    Description

Vintage Museum Replica NETSUKE NOBLEMAN, Resin Figure w/Wooden Stand
This wonderful Netsuke replica was purchased over 40 years ago in the late 1970’s. The resin figure depicts a nobleman with his ornate kimono and scepter. The Netsuke is approximately 3" tall, 1 1/2” wide and 1 1/4" deep. It rests upon its own wooden stand and is signed with a traditional Japanese chop.
The traditional Japanese kimonos did not have pockets, and Netsuke were devised as a means to secure pouches to carry personal items. While created as a practical devise to fill a need for over 300 years, Netsukes evolved into a unique form of miniature sculptures.
